APE CACHE VOTE
Happy Friday everyone!
Just moments ago, Geocaching HQ announced via the Geocaching Blog and our social channels that the community has voted to return and reactivate the Mission 9: Tunnel of Light APE cache.
We will reactivate the APE cache on August 19, 2017, the date of the Going Ape 2017 Mega-Event at Washington’s Iron Horse State Park.

Here are the result of more than 10,000 votes:
61% — Return and Reactivate
17% — Activate Once A Year
13% — Display at Geocaching HQ
9% — Traveling Artifact

In the coming weeks, Geocaching HQ will work closely with the Washington State Geocaching Association (organizer of the Going Ape Mega-Event) and we will update the community as additional details are worked out.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Yours in caching,
Chris Ronan

Found a great story that made me think of InfoFerret on New Zealand. Smart kea birds along the Milford Sound Highway at the Homer Tunnel

Best geocache in proximity actually lends itself to the story GC4Z21M Keaconcrete (fiordland)

The Hiking and Geocaching on NZ sounds spectacular. Gotta get myself there someday. Thanks Sarah and GCPC for introducing the GCs “down under”

Hey guys I have been a listener for a while now and also contribute to the Patreon cause I love the show. I was wondering how you guys find time to get the caching in. I started in 2008 and find myself being into it for a week then off for a quarter. One of the best things I use the game for is finding new places when I visit a new town. I first visited my brother at his new house in Ft. Lauderdale in 2010 and one of the ways I learned how to get around down there is through Geocaching. Needless to say, it helped my find cool new areas. Up until recently I have only made about 325 finds. Now that my kids are older I am making a push for 500 by year’s end and 1000 by the end of 2018. Any tips that you can give me to hit my milestones?

Thanks! JDKint

NEWS:

Speakpipe From Joshua Johnson the Geocaching Vlogger
This Sunday March 19 (his birthday) is going to be “Geocaching For Michael Day”
In Memory of Geocacher Michael Costello (age 14)

This is a quote from Joshua the geocaching vlogger, but we feel the same way here on Geocaching Podcast.
“It is with sadden hearts and tears that we acknowledge the passing of fellow geocacher Michael. All are prayers go to the Costello family and we are spreading the news about Geocaching For Michael Day this March 19th. Warm regards from the Geocaching Podcast and the GeoSnippits Reboot Podcast.”
Michael was born with a congenital heart defect and had a heart transplant, and used Geocaching as a form therapy.
